The second edition of the Sarajevo Photography Festival has closed. In three days, the festival hosted 4 exhibitions in different open and closed locations in the city, the participants had the opportunity to listen to 10 lecturers, 2 workshops, panel discussions and 3 book promotions.
On the first day, Zula Rabikowska’s exhibition was opened in front of the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in colaboration with BH Pride March.

After that there was a ceremonial opening of the festival at the City Hall (Vijećnica) and an exhibition of photographs by award-winning authors as part of the Sarajevo Photography Festival. The Grand Prix and 2.00 EUR was won by Armin Graca, a photographer from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the second day, the visitors had the opportunity to attend a lecture by Bertan Selim, editor, curator and consultant specializing in awarding international grants in the field of photography. As part of that lecture, the visitors were able to hear the documentary photographer Mitar Simikić who spoke about his project ‘Mila’, realized with the support of the VID Foundation.

The long-awaited exhibition “Mothers” by Czech photographer Hana Knížova has opened at the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition provides a bittersweet insight into the role of motherhood through a set of intimate photographs.

The lecture by photographer and artist Filip Koludrović, who presented his book ‘I have never been to America‘, was also astonishing. The book is about an imaginary journey through America. All documented moments, architecture, nature and people do not exist, they are created with the help of artificial intelligence.
In the world of photography, documentary and news photos are the only ones that should never be manipulated. With that in mind, the author decided to use this technique specifically on those two fields as an experiment of sorts.

The second lecture on the second day of the festival is a lecture by the INLAND collective. Inland is a group of 14 international photographers dedicated to envisioning long-term documentary projects and developing untold, deep stories. As an innovative structure created by photographers and experts, Inland functions as its own agency, building projects on a global scale to capture the contradictions of a changing world.The lecture was led by Vladimir Živojinović.

One of Inland’s primary missions is to promote and encourage emerging photography around the world, providing education and support to nurture the next generation of visual storytellers.

The latest exhibition, the exhibition of the Spanish photographer and author Raul Urbina, opened at the Ars Aevi Museum of Modern Art.

The last day of the festival started with a lecture by professor Iza Razija Mešević on the topic of artificial intelligence and copyright at the Academy of Fine Arts.

 followed by two promotions of photo books by Croatian author Petra Slobodnjak and Slovenian photographers Matjaž Rušta and Katja Goljat at the Goethe Institute.

The festival was closed with an exhibition of the works of the participants in the analog photography and ZINE making workshops.

Official partners of the festival are the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, the City of Sarajevo, ASA Bank and BH Telecom.
