From 13 to 15 May 2022, we had the pleasure of organising our first edition of the Sarajevo Photography Festival.
The competition gave photographers the opportunity to present their work to the public and win valuable prizes.
They competed in eight categories of photography: documentary photography (reportage), portrait, fashion photography, weddings, mobile photography, life, advertising photography and landscape / urban landscape.
The jury that judged these categories was composed of eminent and award-winning artists, experts in the categories of photography who judged:
Edvin Kalić, Paul Lowe, Damir Šagolj, Duško Miljanić, Jelena Janković, Bojan Hadžihalilović, Andrija Ilić and Arnej Misirlić.
The second day of the Festival was marked by the central event of announcing the winners and opening the exhibition in Vijećnica. The exhibition featured the works of all finalists, and the top three works in each category were announced at the ceremony itself, as well as the Grand Prix.
We thank all the photographers who submitted their works and made this competition so special. The jury had a very difficult task to select 54 finalists from over 350 submitted works. We congratulate them all, hoping that they will continue to develop their creativity and strive to achieve the highest artistic goals.
GRAND PRIX winner of the Sarajevo Photography Award is Spanish photographer Oskar Alvarado, with his series of documentary photographs that left none of the many visitors to the City Hall indifferent.
The winner of the Grand Prix award won a cash prize in the amount of 5,000 KM, and the other first prize winners won prizes worth 1,000 BAM or very valuable cameras from our sponsors Canon and Avtera BH.
We owe special gratitude for our prize fund to the partners and sponsors of the Festival, without whom the Sarajevo Photography Festival would not have been possible.
The festival was supported by: the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the City of Sarajevo, ASA Bank, Canon – Avtera BH, BH Telecom, Adriatic Insurance, Monri, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain, International Burch University, Europe Group and the War Childhood Museum. The general media sponsor is Klix.
Thank you all and see you next year!
