Exhibition of the Spanish photographer Raul Urbina in Banja Luka
The exhibition of recognised Spanish photographer Raul Urbina entitled “My sunken ships with women’s names” opened on December 12 at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska (MSU RS).
This art project was realized in cooperation with Sarajevo Photography Festival, the Embassy of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska.
Photographer Raul Urbina focuses on himself and his moment in this exhibition, leaving aside all other stories and concentrating on his own experience of the world within and around him.
“Through his work, the artist creates his own narrative universe in which he places friends, family and famous places that evoke his deepest thoughts. The artist develops his work starting from some initial rational approaches, where the formal photographic result is not the only goal, but a means to establish an open conversation with the viewer The photographs are accompanied by the artist’s expression in the medium of poetry, which he approaches on the one hand rationally but on the other very emotional, opening the door to his solitude with the psychoanalysis of his own thoughts,” the announcement stated.
Raul Urbina was born in 1978 in Madrid. He has been actively exhibiting since 2007 in prestigious galleries and museums in Spain, America and Europe, and has won many awards for his work.
