SPF Workshop 04 | Fine Art Print in Practice With Srećko Hrkač
In a time when photographs most often remain confined to screens, the question of print becomes a question of the seriousness of an author’s work. Fine art print is not a technical afterthought, but the moment when an image gains its full form, weight, and presence. This is precisely the process explored in the workshop “Fine Art Print in Practice”, which introduces participants to the complete journey of producing high-quality photographic prints — from file preparation to the final output. Through hands-on work on Canon professional printers, participants gain practical insight into paper selection, color management, and the key technical and aesthetic aspects of fine art printing.
A strong focus is placed on understanding how the choice and quality of paper fundamentally shape the final image — influencing tonal range, depth, texture, and the overall perception of the work in physical space. Rather than being treated as a final technical step, print is explored as an integral part of the author’s visual language and artistic intent.
This workshop is realized with the support of partners Canon and Avtera, in collaboration with BlackBOX, a specialized fine art print studio and one of the few in the region dedicated exclusively to high-end photographic and large-format printing. With over a decade of experience and collaborations on major exhibitions, museums, and festivals, BlackBOX brings deep technical expertise and a refined understanding of how to translate digital work into museum-quality physical prints — from paper selection to final presentation.
Who is it for?
This workshop is designed for photographers, visual artists, designers, and creatives who want to deepen their understanding of print as a medium and elevate the presentation of their work — especially those preparing portfolios, exhibitions, or professional outputs where the final print truly matters.
